Railway tracks in Fredericton were converted to recreational trails in the 1990s. The trails are used by residents for walking, biking, and jogging and boast several scenic vistas along the Wolastoq and Nashwaak rivers as well as a mix of urban and wooded/natural scenery. In 1997, the CN railway bridge that spans the St. John River was renovated and added to the trail system. The Old Train Bridge connects the Sentier NB Trail with the Trans-Canada Trail and provides a spectacular view of downtown Fredericton.  Fredericton has in excess of 80 kilometres of non-motorized multi use trails, which are accessible to pedestrians, non-emission mobility assisted devices, and cyclists.  During winter, many of the trails are groomed for cross-country skiers, snowshoers and walkers.
