Built in 1852 in the Greek revival style by a Wolfville merchant, John L. Brown, Alumni Hall was bought by Acadia University in 1920 as the official home for the University's Presidents. The first of six Acadia University Presidents used to live there with his family was Dr. George B. Cutten. He was followed by Dr. F. W. Patterson, Dr. Watson Kirkconnell, Dr. James M. R. Beveridge, Dr. Alan M. Sinclair, and then finally Dr. James R. C. Perkin.

Since May 1994, the house has been home to the thousands of alumni who attended Acadia, and to the Acadia Alumni staff.
