The University of King's College was founded by Anglican Loyalists in 1789, in Windsor Nova Scotia as the first university in English Canada. After receiving its Royal Charter from King George III in 1802, King's College remained in Windsor until 1920 when fire destroyed the main building.
With a generous grant from the Carnegie Foundation, the new University of King's College was built in Halifax , and so began it's association with Dalhousie University.
As an affiliate of Dalhousie University, the University of King's College is a "university within a university". With a total student body of 800 graduates, King's offers its students a unique opportunity to enjoy a personable environment, where individual attention is offered and a strong community spirit prevails.
King's is best known for such unique study offerings as Foundation year, Journalism, and Contemporary Studies.
