Details

The cross of St. Brigid, or Brighid of Ireland, is an important symbol in Celtic lore and Christianity.  The Celtic goddess Brighid is best know for guarding fires, both in the home and in metalsmithing.

Saint Brigid, a patron saint of Ireland, adopted Christianity in the fifth Century AD.  Her feast day February 1, celebrates her kindness and generosity.  She is credited with creating the first monastery in Kildare and caring for the sick.

Her crosses, made from straw are traditionally made on February 1st Saint Brigid's Day and also the Celtic festival Imbolc. Placed in doorways to ensure a healthy, happy home. You can wear this one all year round!

We also have the pendant to match.

Size 7/8" tall

Materials + Care

Caring for your pewter

Wash after use with warm water and a mild soap. Jewellery and pieces that don't touch food or drink can also be cleaned with Windex and paper towel. Never put pewter in the dishwasher.

Polished (shiny) finish: bring back the shine with a jeweller's rouge cloth. We use Fabulustre, but any rouge cloth from a hardware or jewellery store works.

Satin (matte) finish: buff out scratches and dullness with a Scotch-Brite or scouring pad, rubbing with the grain.

Shipping + Returns

Free shipping on Canadian orders over $125 and US orders over US$200. US prices include import duties, so there's nothing to pay on delivery.

In-stock pieces ship within 1-2 business days.

Every piece begins as molten pewter. Jewelry, ornaments, frames and coasters are cast, chased and finished; mugs, goblets, vases and bowls are spun on a lathe. Each one is polished by hand before it's packed. All our pewter is lead-free and nickel-free, a good choice if other jewellery irritates your skin.
